 Our 75th Pickup is in the Books!Thanks to the more than 100 neighbors who have taken part in at least one litter pickup in the past eight years! On Saturday, May 10th 2025 we celebrated our 75th outing! We have been fortunate to have had REMS real estate coffee sponsorships and the lovely Rosa Coffee Shop to help sustain us through the years. Thanks to everyone who comes out on the second Saturday of each month... and to all those who pick up litter on their daily walks. Spring time is a beautiful time in the Grandmont Rosedale Community.     And yet, we struggle with litter in our community.  You can make a difference in our community --both for humans' sake and for our plant life's! Join our monthly meet-ups at Rosa Coffee Shop (second Saturdays at 9:30am, except in June (first Saturday) to pick up litter with neighbors. Or take a small bag with you on your next walk through the neighborhood and pick up litter as you go!
 When the going gets tough, the tough get going! Thanks to the 40 neighbors who turned out for our first litter pickup of 2025 on March 8th we retrieve 42 bags of litter from our streets. As we like to say, "Our neighborhood thrives in '25!".
 The Rosedale Fun Litter Pickup Club achieved many wonderful milestones in 2024. We surpassed the 1000 bag threshold over eight years of monthly pickups, with a record 240 bags picked up in 2024 alone -- our biggest annual haul! 30 new members joined up, for a total of 80 neighbors who joined in one or more pickups. We hosted our annual holiday party with nearly 50 in attendance on December 6th; and held our second annual bike trip in August. Participation in the North Rosedale June Day parade for the second time was especially exhilarating with over 40 members marching in our brigade on a beautiful June morning. Our founder, Mary Madigan, was honored by the Detroit City Council Green Task Force with the District 1 Green Leadership award.
That's a wrap on Litter No More in '24! Many thanks to Rosa Coffee Shop for hosting up on Saturday mornings; and to REMS real estate for their generous free coffee sponsorship!!  Twenty-eight litter removal enthusiasts joined forces at our October outing on 10/12 to clean sweep high traffic trouble spots such as Fenkell, Outer Drive, Southfield service drive, and Grand River. So far this year we have picked up nearly 250 bags of litter! Oh, and we got to meet Speaker of the Michigan House of Representatives, Joe Tate!
 What can you say about neighbors such as these?
Giving up an hour of their Saturday morning, 24 residents gathered on 9/14 for our September clean up of Grand River, Southfield service drive, Outer Drive, and several other "hot spots". The next time you see one of these lovely folks, tell them thanks. Better yet, meet them in person next month at our October outing (10/12) at Rosa Coffee shop.
