Our members share that the rewards of litter pickup are many. For some, there's the thrill of discovery; the occasional dollar bill, for example, or in one case, $20 bill, has led to great satisfaction. There's also the story telling feature that guides some litter gatherers... one member shared that she considers re-building a car from all the automotive scraps she's "rescued". Others enjoy musing creatively... what might this piece of glass be used for? Or, this shriveled balloon? Mostly, though, our members report that the "fun" in litter picking up has to do with taking pride in their community, a rewarding sense of care-taking, pitching in to make a difference. Perhaps not fun in an of itself, but in the company of fellow beautification enthusiasts, the comradery and shared satisfaction of litter removal is indeed "fun".
